These cute little lemurs are called “Red-fronted brown lemurs”. Compared other lemurs, they are many in COFAV forest where Ny Tanintsika works.
However, many people still eat them and damage the forest where they live. As a result of hunting and destroying their habitat, the Red-fronted brown lemurs is becoming extinct. The statistics provided by IUCN prove this because in 2000 they were projected to be 89,367 to 106,817 but in 2014 the number of Red-fronted brown lemurs was reduced from 14,734 to 21,527.
That is why Ny Tanintsika is constantly trying to do forest monitoring and rehabilitate the damaged forests so that such animals can live freely and safely in the forests where they live.
Let’s protect the forest so we can protect lemurs because they are our friends.
